Locked before it leaves

We only hold scrambled data

What does CETE stand for?
Cypher End-To-End. Every message, file and call is locked with a cypher on the sender's device and only unlocked on the devices of the people in that conversation. Nothing in between, including our servers, can read it.
Can we delete conversations completely?
Yes. Anyone can clear a conversation from their own view. Company owners and admins can delete every message and file in a conversation, or a whole channel, for everyone. Deleted content is erased from our servers, not archived, so it cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.
Can CETEChat staff read our messages?
No. Messages, files and calls are encrypted on your devices with keys we never hold. We run the service without being able to see what is said.
What if someone forgets their password?
They reset it by email. If they saved their recovery key, every conversation opens again straight away. Without it, they get new keys and their conversations come back automatically as soon as a teammate in each one is online. Owners and admins are reminded to save a recovery key, so they never depend on their staff to get back in.
Where is our data kept?
On servers in Sydney, Australia. Messages and files are stored encrypted, only your team holds the keys, and daily backups are kept for 14 days.
What happens when someone leaves?
An admin removes them and their access ends immediately. Private conversations switch to new keys, so nothing sent afterwards can be read by them.
Can I be in more than one company?
Yes. One login works across every company that invites you, and each one stays completely separate.
Do I need to download anything?
No app store needed. Open CETEChat on your phone or computer and add it to your home screen or dock in a couple of taps. It then opens and notifies you like any other app.
Is the free plan really free?
Yes. Teams of up to 5 people can use CETEChat free, with no card and no time limit, and with exactly the same encryption as paid plans. If you want more, try Business free for 30 days: add a card, nothing is charged until the trial ends, we email you 3 days before, and you can cancel anytime.
